Selena Fox speaks in Williamsburg, Virginia

Selena Fox, founder & high priestess of Circle Sanctuary, is celebrating her 40th Anniversary of conducting public Pagan rituals with presentations in Williamsburg, Virginia on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

Selena, who lived in Williamsburg from 1967 to 1971 while attending the College of William and Mary says: "I look forward to returning to the place where my public Pagan work began and celebrating this milestone with Pagans of many paths!"

Selena's talks, workshop, and ritual are free and open to the public.

Selena will be guest minister at both Sunday morning services of the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists. She will be speaking on Pagan spirituality and culture, past, present, and future. The first service begins at 9:15 am and has a talk and discussion format. The main service, at 11:15 am, is more formally structured with music, readings, and prayers in addition to her sermon presentation. Both worship services are open to the public. Donations are welcome but not required.

In this workshop, Selena presents ancient & contemporary ways of celebrating Solstices, Equinoxes, & the seasonal midpoints. Examine contributions of ancient cultures, including Roman, Greek, Celtic, Scandinavian, Baltic, Germanic, and others. Explore the Pagan roots of the College of William & Mary's annual Yule Log Burning Rite. Hear the story of the Greco-Roman Rite of Spring that Selena facilitated on campus in the Sunken Garden in the Spring of 1971 with Classical Studies faculty & students and the support of the Classics Club. Discover ways of creating your own personal traditions for attuning to Nature's rhythms.

The historic Wren Building is the oldest academic building in the United States and the site of the College's annual Yule Log ceremony.

RITE OF AUTUMN

Join with Selena and others in connecting with Autumn's beauty in this outdoor Pagan ritual that includes music, meditation, and celebration. Dress in ceremonial garb if you wish. Bring a rhythm instrument to play if you have one. Selena will give a short introduction to the ceremony at the conclusion of her workshop & then will lead a procession to the nearby Sunken Garden area. This multicultural, multitradition rite is open to those of many paths.

Selena Fox is founder and high priestess of Circle Sanctuary, which has been serving Pagans of many paths worldwide since 1974. Selena has a M.S. in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Psychology in June, 1971. During Selena's undergraduate years at W&M, she studied Latin and Classics in addition to Psychology. She founded the Classics Club and served as its president. She also was president of Eta Sigma Phi, the Classics honor society.
