Fort Bragg Open Circle
On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the Fort Bragg Open Circle will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a series of events. At 5 pm, the celebration begins with a presentation ceremony with chaplains and other special guests at the Main Post Chapel, located at Sedgewick and Jackson Streets on the Fort Bragg Army Post near Fayetteville, North Carolina. This ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Chapel Annex. Later, there will be an evening ritual and potluck at the Open Circle’s ceremonial area.
Selena Fox of Circle Sanctuary is among the special guests taking part in celebration. She says: “The Fort Bragg Open Circle is one of the oldest and longest running Pagan military groups in the United States of America. Also known by its original name, Bragg Pope Open Circle, it has been providing ceremonies, education, and other support for Pagans at Fort Bragg since its founding in 2001. It was among the Pagan military groups that took part in the successful quest to have the US Department of Veterans Affairs add the pentacle to its list of emblems of belief that can be included on veteran gravemarkers. I look forward to being part of the Fort Bragg Open Circle’s 10th Anniversary activities on Saturday and celebrating this milestone for this group – and for Paganism as a whole!”
Celebration activities are free and open to those supportive of Pagans in the US military. Those coming from outside the post who wish to attend need to arrive by 4:30 pm at either the Randolph Gate (Northside) or All American Gate (Southside) in order to go through security, including a vehicle search. Each person coming needs to present a currently valid government-issued photo ID, such as driver’s license or passport.
