Candles, Moon or What?

Ah, it is summer (close enough to say this) and thoughts of outdoor rituals are starting to seep into our brains! Being outside doing workings is a great experience and I suggest all students to do this a time or three!

One concern though that comes into view is what type of lighting is the best to use. Should you use candles, regular lights or just the moon? This is a personal choice. There are factors to take into consideration.

Candles: These are fantastic for mood. With the ominous glow and flickering it really will put you into the mood of what you are doing. Plus you will need the candles in most rituals and workings so it is safe to say that you will have a few around. Yet sometimes they do not throw off enough light. If you are doing close up alter workings candle light is perfect. Remember though never place near open windows with curtains and never leave unattended!

Regular Lighting: Although this is the easiest method to use it can seem harsh and is not mood enhancing at all. If you are stuck using a lamp try a lower wattage bulb such as a 40 or something like that. You will still have the light but not as bright and harsh. Hence you still have the mood!!!

Moon Light:  Take into consideration where the moon will come into view for you. Will there be enough light for you to SAFELY to your workings? If the answer is absolutely yes then by all means use only the moon light. If not add a few candles to light your way! Moonlight is so powerful and rejuvenating that one should always try to do a ritual or working during this time. No time for that? How about just sitting under the moon light to meditate for a bit?

No matter what light you choose make it what you want, need and of course safety! Try a few methods to see what fits for you!
