An easy idea that might work for many in changing altar designs and that is to choose one base for the altar. I went out and purchase an inexpensive granite tile for the base of my altar in one of my rooms.

I chose this due to the fact that it is pretty and wears well. Also if anything gets to hot or even drops out it is fire proof. This way there is no unsightly burn marks to be seen.

There are many colors that you can choose from so that makes it nice to work with as well. Having something that blends in and you do not have to worry about makes changing the altar for holidays and other special occasions so much easier.

AND it does not have to cost you and arm and a leg to do!
