Correspondence No-No's

Today I am going to post a rant. Yes, a rant. One thing that really gets my goat and that is the way people communicate in letters. Now, I do not know if they do not know how to write letters or just do not feel the need to be proper. Yet I read them, my staff reads them and we are flabbergasted at the way some are written.

It is not like you are asking about Vegas vacations from a friend. You are writing to a business and teachers. Show a little respect.

All cap's is a no-no. For those that are not aware this called YELLING. I see this and nearly do not write. Not to mention I get more than annoyed. Especially when the student is telling us  how and what to do. If you are new, how do you know what is done? You do not.

Another thing. Mailings. I dislike the fact that a student will enroll one day and two days later says WHERE IS MY GIFT PACKET? We have to process and then mail. You know it might take 3-9 days to get to you? Plus the student has not even logged into their student account, followed instructions but wants the packet. Did you sign up for the school or something free?????

Please try to be at least civil when you are first writing. Not demanding and over bearing. All staff here are people. Not your personal doormats.

Only send one email. More than that clogs up the system and if you are writing one every five minutes well it takes longer to sort through. Try not to lie either about contacting. We keep very good records of your contact. We have copies of your contact, writing in the log when and why you contacted for further data. So please do not tell us you have written and written and gotten no response. Because chances are you are telling a lie and will get caught in the web of deceit.

Maybe it is just me, but you get more flies with honey than vinegar.
