Samhain Ritual Caution
Tomorrow night as you prepare for your ritual, whether a group or solitaire, please remember safety comes first.
By this I am talking about candles and incense. Be sure that if you are burning candles to have them safely in Votive candle holders or taper candle holders. Never leave them unattended or by a curtain or window. If the ritual you are doing calls for the candle to burn completely out, then you must stay up with it. If it takes 4 hours well guess what? To be safe you will need to be up making sure all is well.
Incense is the same thing. I use charcoal disks and they burn hot and for a long period of time. Usually at the end of a ritual or working I will douse the disk with a small amount of water making sure that it is completely out. Using a heat proof surface such as an abalone shell, incense burner or even a small heat resistant cauldron. Using the abalone shell I have a special trivet that I place it on to add to the safety of not burning anything underneath it.
Use caution this Samhain. Bring the New Year in safely!
