What Does A Witch Do When They Are Depressed?
I have been asked so many times as what does one that is a Witch or a member of the Craft do when they are depressed or fall on hard times? What do they feel and how do they do things differently than those not of the Practice.
Thinking about this I too had to wonder. I came to the conclusion that we don’t do anything differently, yet maybe we do.
Sometimes when we get down and out we may question our spirituality. Talking with others they have told me they wonder if they did something wrong, not paid homage enough, not doing things for the good of the God/Goddess feeling that the Deities have turned a deaf ear to them. Becoming distressed over the thought, mill away the hours going over every fine detail of their life in the time frame of question.
Solving the Problem
In solving the problem, many use meditation to come up with the answer that is needed. This may be an increase in the normal meditation rite that they perform on a daily basis. Asking for guidance in the time of need.
Relaxing into the meditation is the first thing in order to have the answer given to you. Removing the stress and being open. Hard to do when you are in a black, bleak place. Find the quiet place within and listen. Asking their question and waiting for an answer. They present to the Universe and let it go.
One must realize that sometimes answers are not given right away if any at all. The Gods and Goddesses wish us to stand on our own two feet and solve things on our own. They offer us guidance only, what we do with this guidance is up to us, the individual.
They do not turn their backs nor not listen to us. They are guides only. We have the free will to do as we please. Besides, they have at times no power to change our situation, only we can do so. After the meditations, incense burning and rituals done, all we can do is hope that guidance will be offered.
We in our time of needs call upon our chosen Deity to help us. Give us strength when we are weak. Witches and those of the various paths call upon the love that they give us. Seeing that there is always something good even in the time of bad.
Maybe this is what we do differently than others. We know we will be guided to the right answer. We use our intuition and knowledge of the Mysteries that has been gained over the years of practice. We know that for every time we question, feel doubt or the “Dark of the Soul” there will be that bright light showing us that we are not alone. Really, when you honestly think about it, is no different than the Christian, the Catholic or even the Satanist. Each religion and or belief calls upon the Being(s) of what they believe and trust in.
When I get in the darker moments, I call forth the inner light to guide me. To walk with me until the time has passed. With each bad moment it is a learning experience of stamina, faith, trust and love in the Gods and Goddesses that I personally honor. And for myself in seeing the situation through till the bitter end, walking away when finished knowing that I did my best.
When we of the Craft are depressed we do as all others do. Cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I think many of us, no matter what religion we practice, often hope to find something or someone to help cure us from our depression. We often look for outside influences to help relieve our pain. Being a sufferer of depression for many years, I tend to forget that I need to look inside of myself for answers.I can pray and ask the guidance of the universe, but when it comes down to it, only I can make the change. Great post today.
