Full Moon Coming Up
On the 15th we have a nice Full Moon ahead of us. Usually we have the Full Moon trivia up for students to read but decided that we would do it here as well for those of you that just do not check your calendars.
The Full Moon in September is generally known as the Harvest Moon. I know that is pretty easy to figure out why it is called that
This is the time that farmers are able to continue harvesting until after sunset by the light
of the Harvest Moon.
Now, it may sound pretty silly or that it is not really done this way. Living here though I have found out differently. There are those farmers that actually do some of the harvest on this day. In asking why they do this they have stated that they feel it produces good fortune for the sale of their crops.
The past year or so our harvests for some of the farmers have not been all that great as we were short on water. For example the farmer in front of our home harvested way before September. His small crop was ruined due to lack of water and locust.
For this Full Moon though many of the farmers will be using the traditional light for the prosperity they feel will come with it.
Usually around this date we have a strange occurrence of our own with the corn field across the street. But that is a story for tomorrow

I would love a great Harvest Moon pic for my blog! It sounds so peaceful!

It's the Harvest/Barley Moon in the northern hemisphere, but for your southern hemisphere readers I think it's worth noting that it's the Chaste / Winter Last moon. yay! And so the circle of life continues...
