Stale Charcoal Disks

There you are preparing for your working. Everything is going smoothly and then it happens. The charcoal disk simply refuses to light. OH, it sparks on one side you think There it goes. Only to find out that no it didn't. No matter what you try it just sits there not lighting. Before you take off to get a Hilton Head rentals you may be suffering from stale charcoal.
Charcoal will become stale if left out in the open for to long. Most people do not think that this will happen but it does. Moisture in the air will set in the disk(s) nearly ruining them. One thing that you might try doing is to to keep them in either a sealed air tight container or a zip lock baggie. This will ensure freshness until your next usage.
What to do with the old, stale disks? Wait don't toss them out! One thing that you may do is to break them apart into smaller pieces and use in a mixture when you need more charcoal for burning. Simply light a fresh disk and when you need a boost for a longer burning period place the broken pieces on top or near the already lit disk. The intense heat will start the staler pieces and they will glow.
