During our last staff meeting one of the issues that we discussed was the student calendars. Whether to keep them or simply phase these out.

It seems that most students do not use or even follow the calendars so by keeping them up and running is a waste of time. We decided to slowly phase these individual calendars out. Oh, stop groaning and moaning! I hear you. What if anything will replace them?

Putting everything on the table and under magnifying glasses we decided to do the following. Each student will have a personal calendar for their own use if they wish to use them that is. We will not update these at all any longer. A general school calendar with the announcements, trivia and other information will be established. That way students will all have one central informational calendar and it will no longer create time restraints on the staff to update each calendar with the same links and postings.

A new calendar will be up and running on Monday, April 21st. From now on each student will receive an email that the calendar has been updated. We are still trying to come up with a routine as to how often these calendars will be updated. Looking at once a week on Fridays seems to be the flavor of the discussion.
