April Fools Day

Here it is one of the biggest jokster days of the year. But where did this day originally begin? Actually it appears that nobody really can pin point the exact date and time. Some believe that it is around 1582, but like anything that does not have a precise date there are other views.
After hundreds of years the tradition of playing a joke or prank on our loved ones or friends still prevail. When the calendars began to change from Gregorian to Julian calendar many people would not accept this. As the new year was on April 1st, some tried and true followers of the old calendar in France, still celebrated the New Year on this date. While the masses did not, they would call them April Fools making mockery and playing jokes on them.
The Jewish had their own take on why jokes and pranks were played out on April 1st. It was believed that this was the day that Noah let loose the dove on his travels. You know that they thought him quiet the fool for the arc and building of it. This is how April 1st was derived by making jokes.
Now, you might think you have all day long to do this. Well, you do not. According to folk lore you only have till the afternoon to play pranks on people. About a half day or till noon actually. After which the commonly known saying of;
April Fools Day is past and gone
You're the fool and I am none
Of course that is not the saying that is used around my home or people that I know. I think that the more common ditty is:
April Fools Day is passed
You're the biggest ass at last
No matter how it was started people all over the world have fun with it.

Boy I better hurry up and do a few jokes. I dont want to be a bigger ass than I already am
